Family Stages

In 1980 Elise and Steve Seyfried had just completed a year and half tour of the Northeastern U.S. with educational program for schools. They settled in Philadelphia and began performing their own two-actor, story theatre plays as duet productions. Their first show was The Wizard of Oz. The production was a big hit and more shows followed quickly: Peter Pan, Cinderella and Alice in Wonderland. The Seyfrieds now have a list of over 40 scripts for family and school audiences.

In 1982 the couple founded the Rehoboth Summer Children’s Theatre on the Delaware Shore. As the demand for programs in Pennsylvania and Delaware grew, additional actors joined the company. Then theatre camps and classes were added, giving children the opportunity to develop their theatrical and communication skills. Eventually the company was established as a 501(C)3 non-profit and renamed Family Stages.

In addition to writing the scripts based on classic fairy tales and folklore, Steve has focused on historical plays, bringing to the stage the stories of King Tut, Copernicus, Ben Franklin, Lewis and Clark and more.

Currently Family Stages maintains an active schedule of touring productions and public performances in Ambler, PA and Rehoboth Beach, DE.
